Breezer 2013 manual is finally here. It is a draft so we expect some errors, but we think that it could help our users to better understand Breezer inner workings and take the most out of it, even as a draft.

Go and download it directly from http://www.revel-software.it/get-breezer

The manual is available in italian and english.

Continuous delivery value to customer

Sunset

This time we blog about our release cycle and the new licensing policy.

Thanks to the experience we made with previous Breezer releases and the feedback we received with Breezer 2013 we decided to speed up the release cycle and the licensing policy.

Speeding up things

One problem we face with our past releases was the slow release cycle. This problem impacted on the time necessary to release a bugfix but also impacts on the time needed for a new feature to be available.

So we automate our build and release procedures lowering the time-to-release to just few hours (testing apart) and we also improve the development with new collaboration tools and a general code optimization.

Speeding things up means also that with next version of Breezer we will be able to continuously deliver new features, bug fixes and improvements opening up a new range of licensing schemes.

For example we plan to introduce user-defined metadata fields, better multi-database support and VST effects hosting. We will blog about the roadmap in the next months.

Changes to the product licensing (aka per-user license)

With Breezer 2013 we will deliver two editions, one made for professional users and one for home and audio enthusiasts. Obviously those two editions will be priced differently (we can't disclose now the final prices) but the major news (and welcomed by many, we think) is the license that the pro edition will have.

The professional edition will ship with a per-user license, which means that no matter how many workstations you have, you could install Breezer 2013 Pro on each one, load the license file and start to work. This is a huge improvement since the past and is a step toward our professional users that asked for a per-user license since Breezer 2012 launch.

The Express edition will continue to ship with a per-machine license. (see update below)

Breezer 2013 Beta Update 7

Both testers and developers worked hard to deliver a much more stable update to Breezer 2013. The features are all here, but we found some hard to replicate bugs that delayed the update release.

The release date of Update 7 is now set to: 21 September 2013 if the testers give us the ok.

Suzy Rossi

Update 18 Sept. 2013 after a huge feedback we decided to ship Breezer Express 2013 with a per-user license and not a per-machine license.

Breezer Update 6 now online

Another update for Breezer. In short in this release we clean things up (code and UI) but the most important change is how we handle errors on startup. We gather many feedback of users that after few seconds sees Breezer crash. We weren't able to reproduce the error on our system (from Xp to 8) but we are confident that the problem is localized in our web service engine (updates, news feeds and error reporting).

We hope we're right.

Here's the complete list of changes:

  • Improved web services management (update, news feed and more).
  • After users feedback we improve the error management on startup.
  • [Layered player] Added a new option "Mute on window minimization".
  • Improved the UI of the custom loop region.
  • Added expand or contract of the loop region commands.
  • Improved error handling from background tasks (thanks to Rich who reported the error).
  • Added a visual feedback if a file has an annotation (or more).
  • Increased browsing performances (now we reuse some DB connections more efficiently).
  • Solved a performance bug that causes some playback problems (click and pops).

As usual the the update is available here. Remember that you must uninstall previous version, don't worry for your database, it will be preserved while upgrading.

Breezer 2013 Beta 3 new features and bug fixes

We just released a new update which fixes some bugs, adds some handy shortcuts and contains many UI tweaks.

The most important thing here is the re-introduction of the custom looping regions (aka click and drag on the wave view to make a loop). In this release is also possibile the export of the looping region to a wave file, or and thanks to Mikie for the feature request, you could also drag directly the loop region to your favourite daw.

We work hard also on XP compatibility side, which is now quasi-complete.

For a complete list of changes read the change log here.

Download the update here. Remember that you'll need to uninstall previous version, don't worry for your database, it will be preserved while upgrading.

Breezer 2013 demo backgrounds location

19. June 2013 14:25 by Administrator in   //  Tags: , , , , , ,   //   Comments

Many asked us where to find the backgrounds we use in our Breezer 2013 demos, like the one you see above. Well if you have installed the beta you alredy had them. They are in the "Installation folder/Backgrounds".

To find the installation folder the fast way is to go in the Options > Tools > Open program location this command opens a Windows Explorer window where Breezer was installed.

Breezer 2013 Beta start

Today I can announce that Breezer 2013 beta program starts now. For those who didn’t know Breezer is a digital audio asset manager which helps you to search and organize your library.

Go and download Breezer 2013 here.

This is the very first release so please understand if you encounter an installation error. Please give us a feedback via our feedback centre and we will fix it.

The objective for this release is to catch any installation and first-run bug.

What’s new list is just too long we try to summarize the highlights below:

  • Hierarchical tag library, and advanced file tagging features. File rating is supported.
  • Note guessing and new widgets.
  • GPU Accelerated vector user interface.
  • Transparent, background scanning of the files.
  • Copy/paste files or folders. Be careful with that feature, try those functions on a backup copy of the library.
  • Full drag’n’drop support for file move operations and tagging.
  • Keyboard gestures support: for example keep CTRL key down when dropping a tag in the tag library to duplicate it, alt makes the tag top-level or keep CTRL key down when dropping a tag on a file/folder or a selection to remove the tag from the files.
  • And more…

From now on we will post and discuss the development progress with regularity.

Go, download the installer, try and tell us what’s wrong.
