[EDIT] 2015-02-05 Since the promotion was very successful we choose to extend its validity until February 28 2015! Don't miss the opportunity to get the best sample library manager for Windows at a very affordable price!
We are proud to announce that Breezer 2013 Express is finally out!
When we first release Breezer to the public (was around June 2010) we realized that some users do not need the full range of commands and features that Breezer can offer, so we decided to release an "Express" edition, which is a simpler (and affordable) sample library manager that could help audio enthusiasts and home users to take the most out of their sample libraries.
Breezer Express 2013 lacks some features like folder pre-scan, multiple database support, filesystem operations, waveform annotations, loop export to DAW and more.
Two other notable features are somehow limited: Express edition workspace layout is locked to hybrid view and the maximum tag nesting depth is limited to three levels.
For a detailed list of the features, which are not available in Breezer Express, please check out this page.
Also take into account that some new features that we have on our radar (like preview history and file/folder rename) are accessible only to Professional users.
Pricing, avaibility and download
Express edition will be available for purchase tomorrow, 8th December, priced at 54.00 €
To get it all you have to do is go to our download page and download the universal installer which contains all the bits, 32/64 bits and Express/Pro bits. After the purchase the license file you'll receive will set Breezer with the appropriate license and feature-set.
Breezer Pro Update to 2.0.9
Since both Breezer Express and Professional share the same code base we take the opportunity to improve Breezer stability under some circumstances. Those fixes are available for Pro and Express users.
For a detailed list of the bugs fixed please read the full changelog here.
Revel Software - Support and relations
Breezer 2013 manual is finally here. It is a draft so we expect some errors, but we think that it could help our users to better understand Breezer inner workings and take the most out of it, even as a draft.
Go and download it directly from http://www.revel-software.it/get-breezer
The manual is available in italian and english.
Revel Software - Support and relations
We were quite busy over the past month, so sorry for the lack of updates on our blog and facebook page.
You may ask us: what happened in the past months?
- Breezer 2013 reached the RTM (release to market) milestone on 5th July, on schedule.
- We have a new office located between the Austrian and Italian border.
- Revel Software is now a privately held company registered in Italy.
- Simonetta joined us as tester and QA girl.
During the relocation/reorganization we continue to develop Breezer (our loyal btea-testers knows), but we decided to put the PR and the promotion on hold. Surely we redesigned from the ground up the website but this was complementary to Breezer 2013 launch.
Thank you for your patience, interest and support, we will post more about next Breezer update next week.
The Breezer team.
Today we are proud to announce the release candidate of Breezer 2013! There is some work to do, but our testers give us the green light for the release!
We call it: the fall edition.
What we've done since beta 7
I try to summarize:
- Stability, predictability, usability. The entire staff (developers, testers and the support staff) put all the energies to make this release more stable and to fix every user interface inconsistency we found.
- Fix every hard-to-replicate bug. It's a tiring job we know, but we receive many feedbacks about errors which prevent Breezer to run correctly, or at all. We contact each tester to find out what's going on on their workstations and we finally solved every bug we were aware of.
- Improve browsing and previewing experience. We know since Breezer 2012 that some audio cards (especially the chipset-integrated found in laptops) behave differently, causing clicks, pops, misalignment and such problems, we tried to mitigate those problems with a new option (found in the options window) which, when active, tells Breezer to be more gentle with the audio card. Obviously turning on this option has a small performance impact.
With this release we also updated the user interface with the final theme which is more clear and easy on the eyes.
We already shifted the beta time bomb (since beta 6) to 1st january 2014, so you have plenty of time to check it out. In the meantime we hope to release Breezer 2013 on 23 November 2013. I'll keep you update here and via our Facebook page.
Also we confirm here that both Express and Pro editions will use a per-user licensing scheme, which means that the license we sent to you (simply a text file) could be used to activate any number of workstations you may have. We think this is a more fair licensing scheme, obviously each license is watermarked so any abuse could be tracked, and the license revoked.
For the most curious one a complete list of what we've done is here.
You could download RC bits here.
Revel Software - Relations
This time we blog about our release cycle and the new licensing policy.
Thanks to the experience we made with previous Breezer releases and the feedback we received with Breezer 2013 we decided to speed up the release cycle and the licensing policy.
Speeding up things
One problem we face with our past releases was the slow release cycle. This problem impacted on the time necessary to release a bugfix but also impacts on the time needed for a new feature to be available.
So we automate our build and release procedures lowering the time-to-release to just few hours (testing apart) and we also improve the development with new collaboration tools and a general code optimization.
Speeding things up means also that with next version of Breezer we will be able to continuously deliver new features, bug fixes and improvements opening up a new range of licensing schemes.
For example we plan to introduce user-defined metadata fields, better multi-database support and VST effects hosting. We will blog about the roadmap in the next months.
Changes to the product licensing (aka per-user license)
With Breezer 2013 we will deliver two editions, one made for professional users and one for home and audio enthusiasts. Obviously those two editions will be priced differently (we can't disclose now the final prices) but the major news (and welcomed by many, we think) is the license that the pro edition will have.
The professional edition will ship with a per-user license, which means that no matter how many workstations you have, you could install Breezer 2013 Pro on each one, load the license file and start to work. This is a huge improvement since the past and is a step toward our professional users that asked for a per-user license since Breezer 2012 launch.
The Express edition will continue to ship with a per-machine license. (see update below)
Breezer 2013 Beta Update 7
Both testers and developers worked hard to deliver a much more stable update to Breezer 2013. The features are all here, but we found some hard to replicate bugs that delayed the update release.
The release date of Update 7 is now set to: 21 September 2013 if the testers give us the ok.
Update 18 Sept. 2013 after a huge feedback we decided to ship Breezer Express 2013 with a per-user license and not a per-machine license.
